It was one year ago that Michael and I went through IVF. One year ago (March 29th) that we had 11 eggs retrieved. 7 fertilized, 2 of those were frozen, 3 didn't progress, and two were transferred one year ago (April 1st). Who knew that those two that transferred would produce 3 happy, healthy and beautiful babies? That IVF cycle was our one shot at becoming parents and we were so surprised at the outcome. I guess good things come to those who wait!
Now for updates (pictures to follow later).
Early Intervention came last week to do an evaluation on the triplets. Happily, Alaina and Liam do not need their services - they are just fine. Kiera is showing thebeginning stages f torticollis (sp?) since she tends to favor her right side of her head to look and sleep. So the physical therapist will be coming out next Monday to meet Kiera and begin some neck stretches to help strengthen those muscles to prevent it from getting worse and ultimately to prevent having to wear a helmet.
Alaina had her 2 month checkup this past Friday and is doing so well! The nurse practitioner said it looks like she'll only need to be on the NeoSure formula for another month (until we run out) then we can switch to regular. She weighed in at
13lbs 9oz which put her in the 50th percentile. She measured 23 1/2 inches long with put her in the 30th percentile and her head measured 16 1/4 (60th%).
Kiera goes for her checkup this week and Liam the following week.
Tummy time has been going well too. They are all champs and even roll over onto their backs! We practice every day and try to do it at least 3 times a day. THe more we do it they better they wull get at sitting up on their own.
We started rice cereal and it looks like this will take some practice to get used to it. Liam would rather smile at Mommy and Daddy than eat. Kiera doesn't really know what to think of it yet. Alaina is trying the hardest but preferes her bottle instead. Once they get the hang of that, then we can move onto baby food. Oh fun!
At dinnertime, Michael and I eat at the dining room table and put the babies in their high chairs with us. We want them to see how we eat and get used to being at the dinner table as a family. We put out a couple toys so they don't get too bored and so far it's been going well.
April is going to be practice month. Since mom will be the triplets' caregiver when I return to workk in mid-May, we will be going through some practice runs. For the past few weeks, Mom comes over daily instead of sleeping over. THis week she will get to the house at the time she would need to as if I was going to work. Then she'llleave either when Michael gets home or when I would be getting home from work. Next week we will practice me leaving when I would normally go to work and then come home at noon. We will work to get up to speed on her doing some days solo so we get a feel for what it will be like. Luckily mom will be taking a much needed vacation this month too! She jokes saying that I'll have fun shopping when she's watching the babies. Truly though, I need to practice being separated from the babies. I think it's going to be much harder than I plan on.
April also brings us California! Michael's family from the west coast will be visiting towards the end of the month. We can't wait for the babies to see Aunt Susan again and to meet Uncle Bruce, Uncle Guy, Aunt Peggy, Gina and Patrick. It's going to be a fun visit!
I need to get more pictures uploaded but need to make some cookies first for the boy next door who helped Michael with the yardwork this weekend. Spring is here!

It sounds like you have a great plan in place. What ARE you going to do when you are out of the house on your practice run though? Are you doing that every day or just a couple? Although, I'm sure you could just go catch a snooze in the car in the driveway. ;-)
