Ok ...ok. so I'm a couple days late with the post but I'm sure you all understand! On Friday the babies turned 4 weeks old. Can you believe it? They are all growing so fast and putting on weight and fat - just what we want. On the 18th we brought them to the pediatrician for a weight check and Alaina was 5lbs 10oz, Kiera was 5lbs 5oz and Liam was 5lbs 3 1/2oz. Five days later the visiting nurse came to see me and Liam and he was up to 5lbs 14oz! Their 1 month checkup is at the beginning of January and we are confident that they will all be well over 6 pounds with Alaina closer to 7 lbs.
Alaina seems to be developing quicker than the other to as it relates to eye contact. It looks like she will start smiling on purpose soon. Liam and Kiera will stare at you when eating but are more concerned with eating and falling asleep at this point. They are all growing their multiple chins and their hands and thighs are filling out quite nicely too.
The feedings still take place every 3 hours around the clock. I take the 3rd shift feedings so Michael can stay on his "normal" schedule since he has to work. I go to bed in the early evening for about 3 to 4 hours then try to sleep in between the night feedings. We have to feed them one at a time and that takes an hour and a half. Then it's another hour and a half until the next feeding time! It's totally exhausting but we know it won't last forever. They are eating an average of 2 1/2 to 3 ounces at each feeding.
We have been taking some pictures but what little precious time we do have is used to prepare formula, wash bottles, do laundry, pick up the house, eat, shower and whatever else we can squeeze in. Email is checked once every couple days if we are lucky so please forgive us if we don't get back to you right away (if at all!). We are reading the messages but only have time to do that until one of them starts fussing.
For those of you wishing to visit, for now we are keeping "visiting hours" between 11am and 2pm when we are most alert (and showered). As the babies get older and their (and hours) sleep patterns become more regular and normal, these times will change. Please call before visits to make sure we are home/awake. Thank you!
Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and have a happy, healthy New Year!

Wow - four weeks already! I love the photo you sent in the Christmas card (is it the same one at the top of the blog?). They are absolutely adorable!!! You are so right about this stage not lasting. In a blink of an eye they will be waving good-bye as they walk out the door. I see glimpses of that myself on a daily basis as Ben is mere inches away from being taller than me. :-) Enjoy it. Cherish it. Give them a kiss from their cousin in Maine! ;-)
Hi Dee-Good idea on the visiting hours! I was going to tell you that! Oh and IF people ask what they can do, "BRING FOOD" That was the best thing people did for us!! You guys are so busy you forget to eat. A friend organized it so we got a meal delivered every other day or so, it was awesome!! So HINT HINT for people reading who live close by....FOOD is good!! LOL
I can't believe those darlings are already 4 weeks old! Loved your Xmas card! We really wanted to wait to visit you guys until the babies are a little older and you're better adjusted to everything - but when we do decide to pay a visit, we certainly will call first AND bring food!! God bless all of you! All our love, Paula & Willy
