All settled in....almost

We have been in the new house for one week now and for the most part, all settled in. The basement is chock full of boxes that still need to be unpacked but we have plenty to get by with for now.

One of my biggest fears moving from our old house to a new one was that the new one wouldn't feel like home. The first few days we had no TV and it was eerily quiet. Michael and I agreed that it felt like we were staying in a hotel. We are so thrilled to be in our new home - no more 18 wheelers and loud motorcycles whizzing by the house at odd hours. We will actually be able to sleep with the windows open this summer! Unless of course it's too hot and humid so we'll have the a/c cranking! Haven't been able to do that in 14 years!

It only took a couple days but I told Michael that it did feel like home. It's funny how fast one can get used to the peace and silence of a quaint neighborhood. We look forward to meeting all of our neighbors when the weather beckons everyone outdoors.

Last week I think I saw a coyote darting across the entry street into the woods but it could have been a fox (a mightly big one though). The only wildlife that I've seen so far is a flock of big crows that have breaksfast in the mud bowl we call a backyard. Landscaping is on hold until the spring.

We owe a big thank you to our friends and family that helped us throughout this moving process. The biggest thank you goes to my mom and dad for letting us stay with them while the house was being built. I'm happy to give them back their space though so they have their peaceful house again.

Thank you to our wonderful nieces and nephews for entertaintaining the babies while we moved boxes. Thank you to Kathleen and Gramma for overseeing the baby entertaining too!

We could not have had such an easy transition without all of your help.
